SILCHAR, Aug 4: A preparatory meeting in connection with the 76th Independence Day celebration was held at the conference hall of deputy commissioner’s office here on Wednesday.
While presiding over the meeting in presence of representatives of senior citizens and government officials, Cachar DC Rohan Kumar Jha said that the program will also be organised to celebrate 76th Independence Day on August 14, 15 and 16 this year.
DC Rohan Kumar Jha further stated that Model Anganwadi Center will be inaugurated on August 14 and a program will be organised to observe the day.
On August 15, a program will be held in the village of freedom fighters of the district.
There will be a similar schedule on August 16 as well, added DC Jha.
Taking part in the discussion DDC Rajiv Roy said that according to the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ program, all the people of the district will hoist the national flag in their residential houses, commercial institutions and religious institutions from August 13 to August 15.
DDC Roy also reviewed the progress made in implementing the program of 76th Independence Day on August 15, 2022. In the meeting DDC, Roy instructed the officials concerned to complete all preparatory work two days prior to the ceremony.
After a threadbare discussion, it was unanimously decided that the Police Parade Ground, Silchar will be the venue for the ceremonial flag hoisting of 76th Independence Day, 2022.
It was informed in the meeting that relay of patriot songs will be relayed from 5:30 am to 6:30 pm through FLS of regional office of Information & Public Relations, Barak valley zone office and hoisting of national flag at private residences and establishments by all citizens to be done at 7 am.
Hoisting of the national flag at all government office buildings and educational institutions will be held at 7.45 am following a community singing of the national anthem.
At 8.35 am, floral tribute to the ‘father of nation’ & at 8.45 am ‘swahid tarpan’ at Gandhi Bag.
At 8.55 am, reception of VIP at Police Parade Ground.
Ceremonial hoisting of national flag at DSA ground at 9 am by VVIP following a combined parade by CRPF, police personnel, 6th APBN, home guards and NCC scouts and guides.
A cultural programme will also be held at the Police Parade Ground, Silchar on the day.
It was also decided in the meeting that at 3 pm, a boat race will also be held at Kalibari Char which will be organised by Cachar Sporting Club, Silchar which will be followed by a football match between District Bar Association and District Sports Association at 4 pm in DSA ground, Silchar.
At 6 pm, illumination of statues, rotary of different parts of Silchar town as well as government buildings and private residences.
During the meeting, discussion was also held to organise an essay competition where all school students will participate. Inspector of schools and DEEO, Cachar were asked to organise the same.
Rajib Roy, DDC, Cachar insisted that the functions and other activities to be organised at the respective development blocks and therefore, joint programmes by all development departments to be chalked out at each block and requested all departments to extend their sincere cooperation to make the programme on celebration of 76th Independence Day a grand success.
The meeting was also attended by additional deputy commissioner Dipak Jidung and other officials.
