ITANAGAR, June 24: In a significant push towards strengthening Arunachal Pradesh’s digital transformation agenda, Shri Nyamar Karbak, the newly appointed Chairman of the State Council for IT & e-Governance (SCITeG), convened a comprehensive review meeting with the Director of IT & e-Governance, Smti Neelam Yapin Tana, and senior officials of the IT Council on June 24, 2025. The session, held at the IT Council’s headquarters, focused on evaluating the progress of various ongoing IT and e-Governance projects and exploring strategic pathways to enhance the state’s digital governance infrastructure.
According to an official statement issued after the meeting, the Chairman reiterated the Council’s pivotal role in realising the vision of a digitally empowered Arunachal Pradesh and aligning departmental efforts with national initiatives under the Digital India programme. The discussion encompassed project implementation status, existing service delivery mechanisms, technological innovations, and the expansion of digital services to the grassroots level.

In his opening remarks, Chairman Karbak acknowledged the rapid evolution of the global digital ecosystem and expressed serious concern over the increasing frequency of cyber threats and the unethical use of emerging technologies, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI). He drew attention to the rising menace of deepfake technology—manipulated images and videos capable of causing severe reputational damage and undermining public trust.
Stressing that the responsible and ethical use of technology has become a collective responsibility, the Chairman called for a multi-tiered awareness and education campaign on cybersecurity and AI literacy. He proposed that such initiatives target not only the general public but also elected representatives, government officials, educational institutions, and private sector stakeholders.
“Technology is a double-edged sword. While it offers immense opportunities for growth and governance, it also brings along new vulnerabilities. We must build a society that is not only digitally equipped but also digitally aware,” Karbak said. He urged the IT Council to take a lead role in organizing workshops, training sessions, and outreach programmes to educate citizens on safe digital practices and the implications of AI misuse.
One of the key proposals discussed during the meeting was the development of a comprehensive one-stop digital platform for the delivery of all IT-related public services across the state. Chairman Karbak emphasized the importance of integrating various departmental services into a unified mobile application to enhance public convenience, streamline access, and promote transparency and accountability in governance. He suggested that the proposed platform should be designed with user-friendly interfaces, multilingual support, and accessibility features to ensure inclusivity across all regions and communities.
The Chairman also reviewed ongoing e-Governance initiatives being implemented in collaboration with multiple departments, including digitisation of records, online grievance redressal systems, e-office modules, and digital payment systems. He expressed satisfaction with the Council’s commitment and appreciated the dedication of the officers in driving these projects forward.
Commending the sincere efforts made by the Council under the leadership of the Director and her team, Karbak assured his full support in scaling up these initiatives. He noted that the digital transformation of Arunachal Pradesh must be inclusive, secure, and citizen-centric. He also urged the officials to constantly innovate and adapt to new technologies to ensure that the digital governance ecosystem remains robust and future-ready.
As part of the broader strategy, the Chairman encouraged inter-departmental collaboration, capacity building of government staff, and private sector partnerships to leverage technological expertise and resources. He further emphasised the need for real-time monitoring and regular audits of digital infrastructure to ensure reliability, efficiency, and security.
The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to accelerate the pace of implementation and deliver tangible benefits of digital governance to every corner of Arunachal Pradesh. The Chairman reiterated that the state has immense potential to emerge as a digital leader in the Northeast and that with coordinated efforts, transparency, and technological foresight, Arunachal Pradesh can set new benchmarks in citizen-centric e-Governance.
