GUWAHATI, July 26: Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Saturday inaugurated the two-day annual convention of Seemant Chetna Manch Purvottar (Assam State Unit) at the State Institute of Panchayat and Rural Development (SIPRD), Kahikuchi.
The information was provided in an official statement issued by Raj Bhavan, addressing an assembly of delegates, community leaders, and youth representatives, Governor Acharya praised the organisation’s sustained efforts in promoting border awareness, fostering national integration, and empowering communities in remote and sensitive areas.

Calling the convention a “symbol and celebration of our social awareness, unity, and deep affection for our motherland,” the Governor lauded the Manch’s grassroots initiatives that have helped connect border populations with the national mainstream.
He said the organisation’s service exemplifies a form of patriotism that goes beyond slogans and is deeply rooted in dedication, responsibility, and a profound sense of national duty.
Governor Acharya expressed appreciation for Seemant Chetna Manch Purvottar’s continued efforts in Assam to rekindle a strong sense of national consciousness among the people—an ethos that, he said, draws strength from the legacy of Srimanta Sankardeva.
On the occasion, he urged all present to take a pledge for building a progressive and united India by imbibing the ideals of Srimanta Sankardeva and Veer Lachit Borphukan.
Stressing the importance of ground-level vigilance in the age of digital progress, the Governor said that border villagers remain the nation’s first line of defence.
“As our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has rightly said, border villages are not the last but the first villages of our nation,” he stated.
He commended the Manch for upholding its sacred responsibility of national service through academic outreach, youth engagement, and community mobilisation.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by several dignitaries including Chairman and Managing Director of NEDFi, PVSLN Murty; National Convener of Seema Jagaran Manch, Ram Kumar; and key functionaries of Seemant Chetna Manch Purvottar, including Dr Pratima Neogi, Bablu Kumar Roy, and Dr Binita Bhagwati, among others.
