Rameswar Teli Hoists National Flag At CSIR NEIST

JORHAT, Aug 12: As part of the Azadi ki Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, the Union minister of State for Labour and Employment and Petroleum and Natural Gas Rameswar Teli visited the CSIR-North East Institute of Science and Technology at Pulibar here and hoisted the national flag on Thursday.
NEIST director, Dr G Narahari Sastry and Jorhat deputy commissioner Ashok Kumar Barman were present on the occasion. Later, the minister also garlanded the statue of freedom fighter Jananayak Debeswar Sarmah.
Teli recalled the contributions of Jananayak Debeswar Sarnah in the freedom movement and in the establishment of the premier scientific research institution of the region.
Thereafter, he addressed  the gathering at Dr JN Baruah Memorial Auditorium at NEIST stating that he is here as part of the Centre’s national programme ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ under which all statues of freedom fighters nationwide are being garlanded.
In the function, Teli also released a photo album brought out on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee of CSIR NEIST.
Earlier, Dr Sastry delivered the welcome address.
Later, the minister attended a programme organised by the district administration at the Gandhi Park. In the programme attended by families of several freedom fighters, Teli, in his address urged the people to make the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign a success. Mariani MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi, BJP district president Hemanta Kalita, deputy commissioner Ashok Kumar Barman, district administration officials also attended the programme.
