ITANAGAR, Sept 22: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt General KT Parnaik, PVSM, UYSM, YSM (Retd), participated in the foundation stone laying ceremony led by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, in Itanagar on Monday.
The event, which drew wide public attention, marked the launch of several transformative projects aimed at accelerating the state’s economic growth and infrastructural development.
The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the Tato-I Hydroelectric Project (186 MW) and the Heo Hydroelectric Project (240 MW) in Shi-Yomi District, along with the Integrated State-of-the-Art Convention Centre in Tawang.
In addition, ten other key projects worth ₹1,291 crore were also launched as part of the occasion.
Governor Parnaik, who received the Prime Minister at the Raj Bhavan Helipad earlier in the day, expressed his optimism that the projects would bring a new wave of progress for Arunachal Pradesh.
He emphasised that the hydroelectric ventures would not only harness the state’s immense natural resources but also create job opportunities and livelihood avenues for the educated youth.
The Governor underlined that the benefits of the projects would extend beyond power generation.
He pointed out their potential to strengthen tourism, support the service industry, and provide a wider market for Arunachal Pradesh’s unique textiles and handicrafts.
“These initiatives reflect the Prime Minister’s vision of unlocking Arunachal Pradesh’s true potential and ensuring that development reaches every corner of the state,” the Governor said, while hailing the multi-dimensional impact of the projects. By participating in the ceremony, the Governor reaffirmed the state’s readiness to embrace the opportunities created through the Prime Minister’s development roadmap, underscoring his commitment to guiding Arunachal Pradesh towards a path of inclusive and sustainable growth.
