Guwahati, 07 Oct: Nearly three weeks after the death of singer Zubeen Garg in Singapore, his family has raised concerns over the slow progress of the investigation. Garima Saikia, the singer’s wife, has demanded immediate clarity on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Zubeen Garg drowned while swimming in the sea in Singapore on September 19. Questions remain over the actions of those present at the time, with Garima highlighting that key individuals failed to ensure his safety. She has stressed the need for justice and prompt answers.

In a social media post, Garima expressed her grief and urgency for information on why her husband died, stating that the uncertainty has been consuming her daily, saying, “The last one for this life…But we will be together again,,very soon Goldie ! ”
Authorities have arrested four individuals in connection with the case: Zubeen’s manager Siddharth Sharma, musician Shekharjyoti Goswami, singer Amritprava Mahanta, and North East India Festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta. Over 60 FIRs have been filed across Assam, prompting Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to order the transfer of all cases to the Criminal Investigation Department for a consolidated investigation.
A Special Investigation Team, led by Special DGP M.P. Gupta, has been established to probe the death. Several people, including eight of the 11 Assam Association of Singapore members who were on the yacht with Zubeen during his final moments, were summoned by the SIT. The deadline for their appearance was October 6, but only Rupkamal Kalita reported on October 8.
The investigation continues as authorities seek to piece together the events leading to the singer’s death.
