Gueahati, Oct 08: The Assam Police will issue fresh summons to eight members of the Assam Association Singapore after they failed to appear before the CID’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with the death of singer Zubeen Garg.
CID Special DGP Munna Prasad Gupta said the individuals missed the October 6 deadline, despite being served notices earlier. Out of the nine Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) initially summoned, only one — Rupkamal Kalita — has presented himself for questioning.
Gupta stated that the police will proceed according to legal procedures to ensure compliance. He confirmed that Kalita, who appeared at the CID headquarters in Guwahati on Tuesday, is currently being interrogated.
The CID is coordinating with authorities abroad to reach the remaining NRIs, following required legal frameworks. Gupta said the agency expects cooperation from all those involved as the investigation into Zubeen Garg’s death continues.
