GUWAHATI, Oct 13: In a major development in the investigation into the mysterious death of Assam’s beloved singer Zubeen Garg, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has reportedly recovered a complete video capturing the artist’s final moments.
According to highly placed sources, the crucial footage was retrieved from the mobile phone of musician Amritprabha Mahanta, a close associate of the late singer. Portions of the same video had earlier surfaced on social media in a fragmented, web-series-like format, sparking widespread speculation and controversy.

Investigators revealed that the original clip had been deleted from Mahanta’s device soon after the incident.
During questioning, she allegedly confessed to erasing the footage on the instruction of Garg’s manager Siddhartha Sharma, sources close to the probe said. The SIT’s cyber forensic experts, however, have successfully recovered the deleted data in its entirety after extensive digital analysis.
Officials believe that the recovered video could serve as a vital piece of evidence, potentially shedding new light on the circumstances leading to Zubeen Garg’s untimely death.
The footage is now being closely examined to verify its authenticity and to determine the sequence of events captured in it.
The SIT, constituted under the supervision of senior CID officials, continues to pursue every lead with renewed intensity.
Investigators have reiterated that each recovered detail will be scrutinized to ensure a transparent and conclusive probe.
Zubeen Garg’s death has left the state of Assam in deep shock and mourning. With this latest recovery, authorities hope to move a step closer to uncovering the truth and delivering justice in one of the state’s most closely watched investigations.
