GUWAHATI, Oct 13: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the death of renowned singer and cultural icon Zubeen Garg is moving forward swiftly and in full compliance with legal procedures, informed Special DGP of CID and SIT Chief Munna Prasad Gupta on Monday.
Briefing the media, Gupta said that several key individuals linked to the case have already joined the investigation, while more are expected in the coming days.

“A few important persons have arrived for questioning. In the next two days, more will join. There is also a possibility of one individual from Singapore reaching today,” he revealed.
Addressing speculation surrounding the post-mortem findings, Gupta clarified that the report will not be released publicly.
“Contrary to reports, the post-mortem findings will not be made public at 4 PM tomorrow. The SIT has already received the report, which will be submitted directly before the court,” he said.
Gupta further informed that the team has sought official clearance to travel to Singapore as part of the cross-border investigation.
“An investigation is also underway in Singapore, and we are in coordination with the authorities there. Once permission is granted, the SIT will visit Singapore for further inquiry,” he stated.
The SIT Chief also addressed questions regarding the interrogation of individuals currently in custody.
He confirmed that, as per legal guidelines, those under 14-day judicial custody cannot be re-interrogated at this stage.
“The probe is progressing under the guidance of the expert committee’s recommendations. Every step is being taken strictly within the boundaries of law,” Gupta affirmed.
Reiterating the CID’s commitment to transparency and due process, Gupta assured that all actions are being carried out methodically and without deviation from legal norms.
“The investigation is proceeding with utmost diligence. Every aspect is being examined thoroughly, and updates will continue to be shared as the case develops,” he said.
