Guwahati, 15 Oct: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the death of singer Zubeen Garg has dismissed the viral circulation of a purported post-mortem report as fake. SIT Chief and Special DGP of CID, Munna Prasad Gupta, said the document lacked a doctor’s signature and was therefore not authentic. He urged the public not to be misled by unverified information spreading across social media platforms.
Gupta stated that the police remand of five accused in the case concluded today and that all of them would be produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court as scheduled. Of the 11 Assamese expatriates from Singapore, nine have already provided statements, while a tenth is expected to record his statement if he arrives today. Two expatriates, Sushmita Goswami and Debojit Hazarika, also appeared at the CID office for official proceedings.

The SIT chief further informed that accused Shekharjyoti Goswami and Amritprabha Mahanta are set to be produced before the court on October 17. Meanwhile, a team of medical experts examined the five accused, including Shyamkanu Mahanta and Siddharth Sharma, inside the CID premises under strict supervision. All five are likely to be sent to judicial custody following their court appearance as the investigation continues under close monitoring.
