Guwahati, Oct 28: The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of all five accused in the Zubeen Garg death case by another 14 days, as the investigation continues under the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
The accused — Shyamkanu Mahanta, Siddharth Sharma, Sandipan Garg, and personal PSOs Nandeswar Bora and Paresh Baishya — appeared before the court through virtual hearing since they are currently lodged in Baska District Jail.
They were initially remanded to judicial custody on October 15 following their arrest in connection with the ongoing probe into the singer’s mysterious death. The next court hearing is expected once the extended custody period concludes.
In the same case, Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and Amritprabha Mahanta remain lodged in Haflong Jail. Meanwhile, the SIT continues to question and interrogate several individuals linked to the case as it gathers more evidence surrounding the death of the beloved Assamese music icon.
