New Deldi , Oct 30:Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Assam on November 9 to attend a grand Indian Air Force (IAF) Air Show in Guwahati, featuring around 150 aircraft, including Rafale, Sukhoi, and MiG fighter jets. The event will take place at Lachit Ghat along the Brahmaputra riverbank, promising a stunning aerial display that will light up the skies over the city.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the mega show will showcase the IAF’s strength and precision as part of the Air Force Day celebrations in the Northeast — the first large-scale flying display of its kind in the region. The event, themed “Infallible, Impervious and Precise”, will underline the IAF’s commitment to excellence and discipline.
The aerial spectacle will feature frontline fighter jets, transport aircraft, and helicopters performing synchronised manoeuvres and formation flights. Officials said the show aims to highlight India’s growing air power and inspire the youth of the Northeast to consider careers in the armed forces.
Public viewing zones will be set up along the Brahmaputra riverfront to allow citizens to witness the rare display up close. The event is expected to draw thousands of spectators from across Assam and neighbouring states.
Before the Defence Minister’s visit, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will arrive in Assam on November 7 and 8 to inaugurate major infrastructure projects, including the Guwahati Gateway Terminal and the Guwahati Riverfront Project. She will also lay the foundation stone for Swahid Kanaklata Barua State University at Gohpur.
