APCC meets Governor on Panchayat election security

ITANAGAR, Nov 1:  A delegation from the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), led by president Bosiram Siram, called on Governor Lt General KT Parnaik at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar, to discuss security concerns in Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts ahead of the Panchayat elections.

The Governor acknowledged the delegation’s apprehensions and assured that necessary measures are being taken to ensure enhanced security. He emphasised that the elections must be conducted in a peaceful, free and fair manner, reflecting the true spirit of democracy.

Lt General Parnaik also informed the delegation that the State Government has been sensitised and security agencies instructed to safeguard all during the elections.

The Governor has already chaired several security review meetings in the region, including in Namsai, Khonsa and Longding, with elected representatives, district administrations, police authorities and deployed security agencies, to strengthen arrangements in the Tirap-Changlang-Longding area.
