GUWAHATI, Nov 6: Fresh allegations have surfaced against the manager of late singer Zubeen Garg for allegedly misusing funds meant for patients’ medical treatment. According to reports, nearly ₹30 lakh allocated for the treatment of 288 patients was siphoned off, raising questions about the management of the singer’s welfare fund.
Inputs suggest the manager allegedly took a commission of ₹10,000 to ₹15,000 per patient. A staff member at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) reportedly informed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that the accused had been taking about 30% commission from the allocated funds since 2010.
Sources said that this malpractice had been continuing for several years, with a significant portion of the money meant for patient welfare being diverted.
The revelations have triggered public outrage, casting a shadow over Zubeen Garg’s charitable initiatives. The SIT has begun an investigation to verify the allegations and trace the flow of funds.
