Dharmendra, Bollywood’s He-Man, Passes Away at 89

Guwahati, Nov 24: Veteran actor Dharmendra (Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol) died at the age of 89 on Monday, November 24. He had been under treatment for respiratory and age-related complications.

Dharmendra is survived by his wife Hema Malini, sons Sunny and Bobby Deol, and daughters Esha and Ahana Deol. From his first marriage to Prakash Kaur, he is also survived by daughters Ajeeta Chaudhri and Vijayta Gill. The funeral will take place in Mumbai.

Dharmendra’s career spanned over six decades with more than 300 films. His roles in Sholay, Satyakam, Deewaar, Chupke Chupke, and Phool Aur Patthar placed him among Hindi cinema’s key figures.

He served as a Member of Parliament from Bikaner, Rajasthan, between 2004 and 2009 on a BJP ticket. He later said politics did not align with his interests. Dharmendra’s work remains part of the foundation of mainstream Hindi cinema.
