GUWAHATI, Dec 3: Indus Appstore, India’s homegrown Android app marketplace, on Wednesday announced a partnership with Motorola that will make the platform available on Motorola devices across India.
The collaboration enables wider distribution of Indus Appstore and offers Motorola users a personalised and culturally relevant app discovery experience.
Indus Appstore provides Indian consumers with a meaningful alternative in the app ecosystem, built around local user preferences and the country’s linguistic diversity.
The platform supports 12 Indian languages and English, and features AI-powered voice search that eliminates the need to type complex vernacular phrases.
A video preview option further allows users to visually experience an app’s functionality before downloading.
With its fair app store policies, Indus Appstore aims to create a favourable environment for Indian developers.
By reducing reliance on a single source of distribution, it has emerged as a competitive alternative that empowers local developers and strengthens India’s broader app development ecosystem.
Priya M Narasimhan, chief business officer of Indus Appstore, expressed enthusiasm over the partnership, saying, “We are delighted to partner with Motorola to offer an extended set of Indians seamless access to the Indus Appstore experience, reinforcing our commitment to serving the entire breadth of the Indian market. The app store, which truly embodies the Made-for-India spirit, is at an inflection point to revolutionise the Indian app economy. The partnership solidifies our effort to offer Indians a meaningful, viable alternative to not just download but discover regionally relevant apps.”
Sharing similar views, T M Narasimhan, managing director, Motorola Mobility India, said, “At Motorola, we have always prioritised delivering a premium and locally relevant experience to our users in India, and Indus Appstore perfectly fits this vision. By integrating this homegrown platform, we are providing an innovative app discovery medium that enriches our users’ experience and is culturally relevant. This partnership also supports Indian developers by connecting them with the right users through Indus Appstore’s unique distribution model.”
