SIVASAGAR, Dec 5: Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi on Thursday alleged that the Assam government is not inclined to ensure justice for the family of singer Zubeen and his fans, even as the probe into the artiste’s mysterious death on September 19 off the Singapore coast nears completion.
He warned that Assam “will burn” and a “Kurukshetra-like situation” may arise once the findings are made public.Gogoi claimed the state government has planned a major concert in Guwahati on the very day the investigation report is likely to be released, calling it a “conspiratorial attempt” to divert the attention of the youth from the case.
The MLA alleged that the chief investigating officer had not visited Singapore, where the incident occurred, raising “serious doubts” about the impartiality of the inquiry.
He also reminded that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma himself had earlier hinted at foul play, questioning how the probe could still lack basic on-ground verification in Singapore.
