Guwahati, 08 Nov: Assam signalled its next cultural move after Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the state was working on plans to bring global singer Shakira to Guwahati. Sarma said the state explored an option for February but stepped back, adding that the timeline could shift to next year or the one after.
The statement surfaced as Assam prepared for its biggest live show yet under its new Concert Economy plan. International performer Post Malone is scheduled to take the stage in Guwahati on December 8, with an expected turnout above 20,000.
The push follows Meghalaya’s early lead in hosting large-format shows. Assam now aims to position Guwahati and Dibrugarh as concert hubs
