Guwahati, Nov 12: The Special Investigation Team is set to place its charge sheet before the court on Friday, December 12, moving the high-profile Zubeen Garg murder case a step closer to trial. The document, running over 3,500 pages, is expected to outline the investigation’s findings, evidence trail, and the sequence of events pieced together over months of inquiries.
Officials said the SIT has questioned more than 300 people so far, examining every possible link connected to the case. After this large-scale investigation, the team is now prepared to submit its formal report, which is likely to shape the next phase of the legal proceedings.
At present, seven accused remain in judicial custody. They include organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, manager Siddharth Sharma, singer Amritprabha Mahanta, musician Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, cousin Sandipan Garg, who serves as a DSP, and PSOs Paresh Baishya and Nandeshwar Bora. Their arrests have kept public attention firmly on the progress of the probe, with widespread interest in what the charge sheet will reveal.
With the SIT’s submission due tomorrow, the case edges towards the courtroom battle that will determine the accountability of those alleged to be involved, keeping the focus on one of Assam’s most closely followed investigations.
