DIPHU, Dec 13: As part of preparations for the General Election to the Assam Legislative Assembly, 2026, the First Level Checking (FLC) of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) is being conducted in the Karbi Anglong Election District as per the schedule issued by the Election Department, Dispur.
The FLC process commenced on December 11 and will continue till December 22, 2025, at the EVM/VVPAT Warehouse located at DC Colony, Diphu. The checking process covers three Legislative Assembly Constituencies of the district—108 Bokajan (ST), 109 Howraghat (ST) and 110 Diphu (ST).
The exercise is being carried out in the presence of authorised representatives of recognised National and State political parties of Karbi Anglong district, ensuring transparency and strict adherence to the guidelines of the Election Commission of India. The FLC of EVMs and VVPATs is being conducted daily from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM by a team of five engineers from ECIL. Roland Merry, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer and Nodal Officer (EVM), Nagaland, has been deputed by the Election Commission of India to inspect the preparedness, quality checking and storage of EVMs under Karbi Anglong Election District.
The entire process is being carried out under the supervision of Pradip Kumar Gupta, ACS, Additional District Commissioner (Elections), Karbi Anglong, who is also functioning as the FLC Supervisor, ensuring a smooth and transparent process.
