GUWAHATI, Dec 22: Google Pay and Axis Bank on Monday announced the launch of the Google Pay Flex Axis Bank Credit Card, a UPI-powered co-branded credit card aimed at simplifying and enhancing the credit experience for users across India.
Built on the RuPay network, the card seeks to make credit as seamless and widely usable as everyday UPI payments.
It is the first offering under Flex by Google Pay, marking Google’s entry into the co-branded credit card segment in India, while combining Google Pay’s digital experience with Axis Bank’s banking capabilities.
With Flex by Google Pay, users can apply for and receive the card within minutes through the Google Pay app and use it across millions of online and offline merchants.
The card allows users to earn and redeem reward points instantly on transactions, while also offering flexible repayment options, including the ability to convert credit card bills into EMIs directly through the app.
Arnika Dixit, President and Head – Cards, Payments and Wealth Management at Axis Bank, said the partnership aims to redefine digital payments by aligning credit offerings with India’s growing preference for UPI-based transactions.
She said the collaboration brings together Axis Bank’s financial expertise and Google Pay’s technology to deliver instant rewards, flexible repayment options and a simplified credit experience.
Sharath Bulusu, Senior Director – Product Management at Google Pay, said the launch reflects Google Pay’s objective of making financial products simple and accessible.
He added that the company plans to announce additional issuer partnerships soon and that the new card is designed to give users greater confidence and control over everyday spending.
The launch underscores the growing convergence of UPI and credit products in India’s digital payments ecosystem, aimed at expanding access, convenience and flexibility for consumers.
