BISWANATH CHARIALI, Dec 23: The venue of the upcoming 95th annual session of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, scheduled to be held on February 6, 7 and 8 next year, has been named Jyoti-Bishnu Khetra. As part of the preparations to ensure the success of the forthcoming event, all 35 sub-committees have geared up their respective primary works. In this connection, the women section of the area came forward with sickles (kachi) and joined the community stubble paddy cutting programme on Sunday, which continued throughout the day.

While cutting the straw, the women chanted Harinaam and Ghosa, turning the entire Jyoti-Bishnu Khetra into a spiritual ambience reminiscent of Brindaban. During the rest period, they sang the evergreen Maya Bini song of the legendary musician, paid tribute to the beloved icon and later participated in a community feast.

Notably, women participants from Udalguri and Biswanath districts also extended their cooperation, joining hands with women from Sonitpur district. This was informed by Bipul Bora, secretary of the reception committee, Bangshi Bhuyan, president of the cultural sub-committee and Ajit Saikia, president of the publication sub-committee.
