YINGKIONG, Dec 23: As part of the nationwide Good Governance Week (GGW) celebrations being observed from December 19 to 25, 2025, the District Administration, Upper Siang, organised a workshop on good governance practices and initiatives under the week-long campaign “Prashasan Gaon Ki Aur” at the DC office conference hall in Yingkiong.
Kabit Apang, APCS AG (Retd), graced the programme as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, Apang expressed happiness at being invited to a workshop focused on introspection and re-dedication towards public service. He underscored the importance of accountability, punctuality, diligence and sincerity in the discharge of official duties and called upon all participants to work with commitment for the welfare of the general public and the holistic development of the district and the nation.
Deputy Commissioner of Upper Siang, Talo Jerang, elaborated on the objectives of observing Good Governance Week and highlighted the series of activities planned during the week in accordance with GGW guidelines. He emphasised the government’s mission of ensuring that all welfare schemes and services reach the last person standing, right at the doorstep of beneficiaries.
Speaking on the behavioural aspects of government employees, the Deputy Commissioner stressed that courteous mannerisms and benevolent behaviour towards public visitors are integral components of good governance. He urged all officials to inculcate such values to create a public-friendly office environment.
The Deputy Commissioner also expressed sincere gratitude to administrative officers, heads of departments, government officials, police, security personnel and the general public for their cooperation and support in ensuring the peaceful and successful conduct of the Panchayat Elections 2025 in Upper Siang district, attributing the success to the collective proactiveness and dedication of all stakeholders.
During the interaction session, DDSE Duhon Tekseng and ADTH Onam Darang Pertin apprised the gathering of their respective departmental initiatives undertaken as part of good governance practices. Dr India Modi highlighted various initiatives of the Health Department, while Dr Ahik Miyu, DTO (NTEP), spoke on the government’s TB Elimination Programme, explaining the Nikshay Mitra initiative and appealed to participants to come forward as donors.
Kasimang Jopir Pazing, president of APWWS Yingkiong, expressed gratitude to the district administration for involving women’s organisations in such programmes and reaffirmed her commitment to work for the economic and social upliftment of women. Yaham Tali Nangkar, president of the Adi Bane Kebang Women Wing, Upper Siang and also a Nikshay Mitra, highlighted the need to curb drug abuse and called upon the district administration to intensify anti-drug campaigns, assuring her full support.
The workshop was attended by all administrative officers, heads of departments, government officials and other stakeholders.
