TEZPUR, Dec 30: Major General Anurag Vij, ADG NCC for the North Eastern Region, visited the Tezpur Group on December 29, inspecting the Army Camp of the SW Cadets currently underway at 155 BH.
During his visit to the Darrang College Unit of 5 Assam Battalion NCC, Maj Gen Vij was honoured with a guard of honour presented by the cadets and received a warm welcome from the commanding officer, Col. Unni Krishna and administrative officer, Col. Madhab Chandra Boro. In connection with the maiden visit of the top-ranking officer, a colourful cultural programme was organised, featuring Bihu, Bagrumba and other ethnic dance performances showcasing the traditional cultural richness of the region.
Speaking on the occasion, the ADG complimented the cadets for their enthusiasm and skills and held a detailed interaction with them over tea. He was briefed by officers on the conduct of training before addressing the cadets, motivating them to acquire life-saving skills and become responsible citizens of the nation.
The visit concluded with a tribute to brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country, as Maj Gen Vij laid a wreath at the 1962 war memorial near the circuit house area in Tezpur, which marks the site where the ashes of martyrs of the 1962 operations were immersed in 1963.
