JORHAT, Jan 6: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said the State Government will appoint a Special Public Prosecutor in the death case of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg after the next Cabinet meeting scheduled for January 9.
Speaking to media persons during a brief stopover in Jorhat on his way to Delhi, Sarma said the official announcement regarding the appointment of the Special PP would be made after the Cabinet discusses the matter on Friday.

He noted that with the next date of hearing fixed for January 18, there would be sufficient time for the appointed advocate to prepare and appear before the court.
The chief minister said that as per established norms, the Special PP would advise the Government, which would then act accordingly.
He added that the State would write to the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court for the constitution of a special court for the case, once the Special PP of the High Court formally informs the Government in this regard.
Replying to a query on seat adjustment among the BJP and its NDA allies for the forthcoming Assembly elections, Sarma said the issue was not a major one and would be resolved by February 15 or 20.
He said discussions with alliance partners were underway and the matter would be finalised cordially.
During his visit, the chief minister also inspected the ongoing National Freedom Movement Museum-cum-park project at the Central Jail in Jorhat.
After reviewing the progress, he said the first phase of the project is likely to be completed by February this year.
