JAGIROAD, Jan 6: Jagiroad MLA and Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika on Tuesday launched his election campaign by participating in the BJP’s wall-painting drive in Jagiroad, a day after Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the party’s campaign by painting walls with party symbols.
Speaking on the occasion, Hazarika said the BJP-led coalition government in Assam has ushered in a new phase of development over the past 10 years, with visible progress at every level.
He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for their efforts in accelerating Assam’s development.
Highlighting industrial growth, the minister said the Tata Semiconductor Project at Jagiroad would generate employment for nearly 29,000 people and is among five major projects being implemented in the country.
He said the project would create both direct and indirect employment opportunities for youths and described it as a matter of pride for the people of the Jagiroad constituency.
Hazarika further claimed that the Congress party supports Bangladesh and Pakistan and alleged that people of Assam no longer attach importance to the Congress’s views because of what he termed the party’s inclination towards the two neighbouring countries.
He asserted that the people of Jagiroad would remain grateful for what he described as the strong coordination between the Prime Minister and the chief minister, which, according to him, has played a key role in driving development across the State.
