HOWRAGHAT, Jan 7: The Howraghat Town Committee in Karbi Anglong district celebrated its Golden Jubilee on Wednesday with a day-long program at the Howraghat Auditorium Hall.
The event began with flag hoisting by Chairman Bidya Teron, followed by a tribute to former leaders. A cultural procession showcased the town’s vibrancy, leading to a public meeting chaired by Teron and moderated by Mamit Khaklary with MLA Darsing Ronghang as Chief Guest.
MLA Ronghang highlighted regional development projects, including the Rs 922 crore Howraghat Tiniali–Hamren road under the Asom Mala scheme and various social welfare initiatives for women, farmers and students.
Over 100 distinguished personalities, including former leaders Mahendra Gogoi, Deuri Lekthe and Ratan Teron were felicitated. Ronghang also released the souvenir ‘Rongso-pi Aharchi’ and inaugurated a Golden Jubilee Memorial Gate and a Multi-Utility Building at the town market.
The celebrations concluded with prize distribution for winners of quiz and drawing competitions.
