DONGKAMUKAM, Aug 22: Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC)’s chief executive member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang on Monday said that the peoples’ decade-long movement for achieving autonomous state will meet its goal within the BJP regime. Ronghang said, “With the implementation of Article 244(A), the KAAC will be improved as an autonomous state. We are sure the status will be achieved during the BJP’s rule.”
KAAC CEM Ronghang said this while addressing a mass joining program organised by the West Karbi Anglong district BJP at Dongkamukam on Monday.
Addressing the event as chief guest, CEM Ronghang also turned down the All Party Hills Leaders’ Conference (APHLC)’s demand for re-election of the recently held KAAC election. “We have contested the council elections democratically as per rules guided by the State Election Commissioner and we have won. With the loss of the election, the APHLC leaders are frustrated and misleading the people,” Ronghang said.
Notably, the West Karbi Anglong BJP claimed that at least thousands of APHLC and Congress workers led by Julias Terang and Bronson Teron merged with the ruling party on Monday.
