GUWAHATI, Jan 20: The Assam Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party has congratulated senior party leader Nitin Nabin following his election as the National President of the BJP.
The formal announcement was made by the National Returning Officer for the BJP’s organisational elections, Dr K Laxman.
The election witnessed overwhelming support for Nitin Nabin, with 33 out of the party’s 37 organisational state units backing his candidature.
Senior BJP leaders Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh and J P Nadda also filed nomination papers in his support, underscoring the broad consensus within the party.
In a press release, Assam BJP spokesperson Kalyan Gogoi said that at the time of filing Nitin Nabin’s nomination, several senior leaders from Assam were present, including State BJP president Dilip Saikia, Union ministers Sarbananda Sonowal and Pabitra Margherita, along with ministers, Members of Parliament and party office-bearers. Their presence, he said, reflected strong organisational unity and enthusiasm.
Following the announcement, Assam Pradesh BJP president Dilip Saikia extended his heartfelt congratulations to the newly elected national president and wished him success in leading the party.
Nitin Nabin, born in Ranchi in 1980, has served as a minister in the BJP–Janata Dal (United) coalition government in Bihar under the leadership of Nitish Kumar.
He has also been elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for five consecutive terms, gaining extensive administrative and legislative experience.
Highlighting his organisational journey, Kalyan Gogoi said Nitin Nabin’s leadership has been shaped by years of grassroots work and party-building efforts. He expressed confidence that under Nabin’s capable and visionary leadership, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s organisational base would be further strengthened across the country in the coming years.
