GUWAHATI, Jan 22: LG Electronics India Limited has announced the launch of its complete range of air conditioners compliant with the new 2026 Bureau of Energy Efficiency star rating norms, positioning itself among the first companies in the country to make future-ready, energy-efficient cooling solutions available to consumers ahead of the peak summer season.

The early rollout ensures that Indian customers have immediate access to air conditioners aligned with the upgraded BEE standards, which significantly raise energy efficiency benchmarks and bring India closer to global performance norms. LG Electronics said its proactive transition reflects a strong focus on sustainability, responsible manufacturing and long-term consumer value.

Under the revised 2026 framework, efficiency thresholds have been made more stringent, meaning models earlier classified as five-star may now fall under a lower rating despite offering the same or better performance. The reclassification, the company said, is intended to encourage the adoption of more advanced, low-power technologies rather than indicating any decline in product capability.

Industry estimates suggest that switching to a five-star air conditioner under the 2026 norms can help households save up to ₹19,000 over a ten-year period, depending on usage patterns and electricity tariffs. LG Electronics said its new lineup is designed to deliver these savings while maintaining superior cooling performance.

The company’s 2026 BEE-compliant air conditioners have been available in the market since early January, making LG one of the earliest brands to complete the transition. This ensures that consumers purchasing ahead of summer are not investing in products built to older standards.

The new range also introduces customer-centric features aimed at improving comfort and energy management. The Precool function uses geofencing technology through LG ThinQ to automatically cool homes as users approach, while Energy Manager+ analyses past usage to recommend realistic operating hours and consumption targets, allowing users to set periodic energy budgets.

Commenting on the launch, Sanjay Chitkara, Co-Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, LG Electronics India Limited, said the company remains committed to supporting India’s shift towards higher energy efficiency through early compliance and continuous innovation. He said LG’s portfolio is fully aligned with the new BEE standards, enabling consumers to save on electricity costs while enjoying reliable and advanced cooling solutions.

To support consumers during the transition, LG Electronics is rolling out an extensive awareness campaign across print, digital and retail platforms to explain the new star ratings and their benefits. The company added that its manufacturing and supply chain operations are already fully aligned with the 2026 guidelines. While the focus remains on the new compliant models, air conditioners manufactured under the previous norms will continue to be sold until existing inventories are exhausted, giving buyers greater flexibility in their purchasing decisions.
