Hunmily Rongpharpi of KA awarded PhD by Mahatma Gandhi University

HAMREN, Jan 22: Hunmily Rongpharpi, daughter of Kong Rongphar of Jiribasa Karbi Village, West Karbi Anglong, has been awarded a Doctorate Degree (PhD) by Mahatma Gandhi University, Meghalaya, during a formal ceremony held in Guwahati.

Her achievement has sparked pride and joy across the district, inspiring the younger generation to pursue higher education and research.

Dr Rongpharpi’s research focused on gender and literature. Her thesis, titled “Women’s Emancipation and Individuality in Henrik Ibsen’s Major Plays: A Critical Study,” examines themes of freedom and identity for women in Ibsen’s works.

This milestone not only honours her family but also establishes her as a role model for aspiring scholars in Karbi Anglong.
