GUWAHATI, Jan 31: On the occasion of the Chief Minister’s birthday, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) organised a series of public welfare initiatives across the city, including special cleanliness drives and a health camp, reaffirming its commitment to public health and citizen well-being.
A Special Cleanliness Drive was conducted at Sahitya Sabha Bhavan, Rupnagar and Jestho Nagorik Sanstha, Srimantapur, Rupnagar with the participation of Mayor Mrigen Sarania. The drive involved Bonita Chetia, Executive Officer (Division-IV), the Executive Engineer, senior members of Sahitya Sabha, GMC staff and Safai Mitras, ensuring thorough cleaning of the premises and surrounding areas.
A Special Health Camp for Safai Karmis and GMC employees was held at the Community Hall, Dr Ambedkar Colony, Fatasil. Inaugurated by Mayor Mrigen Sarania in the presence of Deputy Mayor Smita Roy, MIC Member Mukul Kalita, Ward No 21 Councillor Sandip Deb, NHM representatives and senior GMC officials, the camp offered free medical check-ups and essential medicines, emphasising GMC’s focus on the welfare of its frontline workers.
GMC further informed that similar health camps will be held across the city over the next 3–4 days to ensure wider access to healthcare services for staff and citizens.
