KOKRAJHAR, Feb 24: Rishi Basumatary, a PhD scholar at the Wildlife Institute of India and a resident of Thuribari village in the greater Basugaon area of Chirang district, BTC (Assam), has been selected to deliver an oral presentation at the Student Conference on Conservation Science (SCCS) 2026 to be held at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, from March 28 to April 3, 2026.
He will present his research titled “Bridging a Fragmented Future: Understanding Distribution, Habitat-use, Corridor Connectivity and Threats to the Endangered Golden Langur (Trachypithecus geei) in India.” The study focuses on the endangered Golden Langur, the mascot species of Bodoland.
The presentation is based on his MSc (Wildlife Science) dissertation conducted at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun, under the supervision of Dr Anukul Nath, with co-supervision from Dr G V Gopi and Dr Dilip Chetry.
