Meghalaya HC to file cases on illegal mining

SHILLONG, March 7: The Meghalaya High Court on Friday directed the state to file further information on illegal mining compliance as it tracks recommendations of the Justice BP Katakey committee.

“It is made clear that the State respondents are to further furnish information with regard to the other aspects, which have been under consideration by this Court in the Thirty Fifth Interim Report of the Justice BP Katakey Retd Committee,” the division bench of Justice HS Thangkhiew and Justice W Diengdoh said in its order.

The bench has also directed that the suo motu case on illegal coal mining be heard alongside a related petition on April 13. (NNN)
