KOKRAJHAR, April 30: Stepping to boost reforestation along forest areas in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) districts, a plantation drive was carried out on Thursday at Saralpara picnic spot along the India–Bhutan border in Kokrajhar district.
The initiative was undertaken by the Evergreen Charitable Trust in collaboration with the Forest Department, Kokrajhar and the 6th Battalion SSB Ranighuli, under the supervision of the Divisional Forest Officer, Haltugaon Division.
Officials, forest personnel, SSB jawans and members of the local community actively participated in the drive.
A large number of saplings were planted at the Saralpara picnic spot, while seedlings were also distributed among attendees to encourage plantation efforts across the region.
“This initiative has been undertaken to promote reforestation across the region with active involvement of local people. This noble venture will also help in forest conservation, wildlife protection and environmental preservation in the Bodoland area,” said a senior forest official in Kokrajhar.
