Empty coach derails during yard shunting at Guwahati Railway yard

GUWAHATI, May 18: One empty coach derailed during routine yard shunting activities in Guwahati on Monday, officials of Northeast Frontier (NFR) Railway said.

There has been no report of any injury or loss of life in the accident, they added.

“During yard shunting at Guwahati Railway yard as a part of regular maintenance and upkeep activities on 18.05.2026, there was an incident of derailment of one empty coach,” NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma said in a statement.

This coach was not part of any train, and there were no passengers on this coach, he added.

“The coach is being rerailed. There is no impact on railway operations as a result of this incident,” Sharma said. (PTI)
