DIPHU, June 4: The JI Kathar-led All Party Hills Leaders Conference (APHLC) has expelled senior party leader and former spokesperson Angtong Engti Kathar from the primary membership of the party over alleged anti-party activities.
According to an expulsion letter issued on June 3, the party said the decision was taken after reviewing a series of developments and incidents dating back to September 25, 2021.
The APHLC leadership alleged that Kathar had violated provisions of the party constitution and repeatedly engaged in activities detrimental to the party’s interests despite several discussions and resolutions adopted by the organisation.
“With effect from 03/06/2026, you are expelled from the primary membership of the All Party Hills Leaders Conference (APHLC) because you have been engaging yourself in anti-party activities,” the letter stated.
The party further claimed that Kathar had failed to adhere to organisational discipline and did not respond positively to repeated warnings and opportunities provided by the leadership to rectify his conduct.
The expulsion marks a significant development within the regional political party, where Kathar had served as a senior leader and spokesperson. No immediate reaction from Angtong Engti Kathar was available at the time of filing this report.
