DIMAPUR, June 27: The Inner Line Regulation Commission (ILRC) of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on Saturday asserted that it remains committed to conducting an objective, credible and inclusive consultative process to strengthen the implementation of the Inner Line Regulation (ILR) in Nagaland while upholding and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the indigenous Naga people.
The ILRC issued the statement after concluding a consultative meeting with representatives of the Bhojpuri Samaj and Bihari Samaj in Dimapur on Saturday as part of its ongoing stakeholder consultation process on the effective implementation of the ILR in the state.

The statement said the ILRC held a meaningful and productive interaction with the two organisations, enabling it to receive valuable inputs, concerns and recommendations.
“These submissions will form an integral part of the commission’s study and assist in formulating comprehensive recommendations aimed at ensuring the transparent, practical and effective implementation of the ILR in the state,” it added.
The ILRC reiterated that the consultation process it initiated has, from its inception, been guided by the principles of transparency, inclusivity and equal opportunity.
The commission said it had extended official invitations to all concerned stakeholders and provided each with a fair opportunity to participate in the consultative exercise, recognising that the implementation of the ILR has implications for various sections of society.
It also reiterated the NSF’s unwavering position that the Nagas are the only indigenous inhabitants of Nagaland and that the implementation of the ILR is fundamentally intended to safeguard the historical, political, demographic, economic and cultural rights of the indigenous Naga people, as guaranteed under the existing constitutional and legal framework.
