IMPHAL, Sept 16: Manipur government on Thursday inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Manipur Secretariat Service Association (MSSA) to end the 10-day long cease work strike of the employees of the state secretariat service.
Employees of the state secretariat service under the aegis of MSSA were on cease work strike with effect from September 5 last, pressing the state government to fulfill their nine-point charter of demands.
The MoU between the state government and MSSA was signed after a talk between the state government and leaders of the striking MSSA today afternoon, an official source said.

The meeting held under the chairmanship of state PHE minister L Susindro Meitei deliberated on the demands raised by the association in detail.
Special secretary (department of personnel), secretary (general administrative department), additional secretary (finance), joint secretary (DP), joint secretary (FD/PIC) represented the state government in the meeting.
After a detailed deliberation, the government agreed to examine the demand for upgradation of grade pay of the secretariat service employees to Rs 1800 in respect of group-D employees along with those of all other group-D employees of the state government.
The meeting also agreed to initiate steps for amendment of service rules of the post of caretaker of the GAD (general administrative department).
The state government also agreed to examine the matter for upgradation of grade pay for the ASO,SO and PS further and Pay Implementation Cell (PIC) of finance department (FD) will take steps regarding payment of DA at the Central government rates as per decision taken earlier.
The state government, it can be mentioned here, had already agreed to the payment of DA at the rate similar to the Central government employees.
Regarding the demand for immediate stoppage of the re-engagement of retired employees, officials representing the state government informed that it had already been discontinued except under exceptional circumstances.
The government further informed that the finance department is already processing for adoption of the Central Civil Service (Implementation of National Pension Scheme) Rules, 2021.
While agreeing with the points, the state government assured release of strikers who were earlier arrested by the police immediately. In turn, MSSA leaders agreed to call off the ongoing cease work strike with immediate effect, the official source said.
Earlier in the day, police detained as many as 54 striking employees after they were picked up from the site where they staged a sit-in-protest as a part of the cease work strike inside the secretariat complex. (NNN)
