AASU declares 48-hour ONGC bandh from Sept 27

SIVASAGAR, Sept 16: Sivasagar district AASU unit, through a release here on Thursday announced 48-hour ONGC Assam Asset – bandh from September 27, 2022 allegedly against its anti – Assam lobby in its administrative body.
The AASU unit alleged that the ONGC has been overlooking various demands raised by AASU and other organisations on various issues. It is only because of the high-handed behaviour and indifferent attitude of a section of anti-Assamese employees and officers that the profit earning Maharatna PSU’s production has nosedived to an all-time low, the release said.
Manob Hazarika, president, and Dipankar Saikia, secretary, AASU Sivasagar district committee, said in the release that the ONGC overlooked their demands to establish emergency beds for the Covid-19 patients in all Government hospitals in the operational area, undertaking special recruitment drive for the engineering graduates from the engineering institutes of the State, renewing extension of aids to local organisations, etc.
AASU sent a memorandum to the asset manager ONGC on August 10, but the ONGC authority did not respond to it. The AASU leaders, including central committee member Samiran Phukan, reiterated their demands for change in their attitude and investment in local area development in a big way and added that any disrespectful attitude to local people’s demands would not be tolerated.
