8 Assam Battalion, NCC felicitates families of martyrs at Nagaon

NAGAON, Sept 25: As part of the nationwide flagship programme ‘Shaheedon Ko Shat Shat Naman’, 8 Assam Battalion NCC, Group Headquarters (Tezpur), under the aegis of NCC Directorates, North East Region organised a special felicitation programme to honour the supreme sacrifices of the fallen heroes who laid their lives defending the nation at its office in Nagaon town.
During the programme, over 40 families as well as next of kins of such martyrs of Nagaon and Morigaon district, were felicitated and were also presented each of them with a ‘plaque of gratitude’ by the NCC battalion.
Dr. Mriganka Saikia, principal of GNDG Commerce College, Nagaon, next of kins of martyrs, officials as well as cadets of the NCC battalion participated in the ceremony. Colonel Amar Singh, SM, expressed his deep respect and honour for the sacrifice made by the armed forces. He exhorted the participants to take motivation from those martyrs and urged the participants to keep the interest of the nation above all.
It is worth mentioning that the felicitation programme initiated by the NCC battalion has brought awareness among the local people about their defence forces, in addition to motivating the local youths to join the armed forces in the days to come, a release added.
