SIVASAGAR, Sept 26: Atmaram Kumar, HoD of English dept, Moran College, released an autobiographical book ‘Mahanadir Pora Brahmaputraloi’ written by Abhi Tanti, a social worker and leader of the tea garden workers of Gohainbari TE, near Nitaipukhuri on Sunday in a meeting held in the Durga Puja Mandap.
Releasing the book, Kumar said that it holds up a hitherto unknown saga of the horrible hardship the tea community had to pass through when their forefathers were bundled into train wagons like cow herds and sent to an unknown land by the traders promising a decent life. The writer has also, through the book, recorded his struggle in a tea garden to establish himself and the family, he added.
The meeting was attended among others by Dipok Borah, Pramode Borgohain, Anil Kumar Pathak, Suen Tanti, Jatin Borgohain, Bikash Baruah, Trailukya Taid, Lekhok Hazarika, Sanjay Tudu, Mukta TASSA, Dulal Bhuyan, Tokey Tanti and Rubi Tanti.
Earlier, the Rukmini Tanti Memorial Durga Puja Mandap was formally inaugurated by Suren Tanti, Dambaru Munda, and Anil Kumar Pathak.
