TU MBA alumni initiates endowment fund

TEZPUR, Sept 30: The alumni group of Tezpur University’s MBA department, batch of 1996-98 initiated an endowment fund at the university in memory of their batchmate, Dr Banasree Dey. This fund would primarily be used for awarding fellowships to research scholars of the department for excellence in publications and related deliverables.
A memorial event was organised at the department of Business Administration on the birth anniversary of Late Banasree Dey, where the initial amount was handed over to the university by representatives of the TU MBA alumni group. On behalf of Tezpur University, the bank instrument was received by the registrar, Dr. Biren Das, in presence of the dean, School of Management Sciences, HoD of Business Administration, and other faculty members.
In his acceptance speech, the registrar urged upon the alumni groups of Tezpur University to take more such initiatives for their alma mater. He gave examples of universities and institutions across geographical boundaries which have benefitted when alumni came forward with such gestures – individually as well as collectively.
TUMBA Alumni batch of 1996-98 was represented by Roshmi Borthakur. Prabir Chetia, Kamaljit Talukdar and Surajit Borgohain.
A notable guest at the important event was Dr. Amiya Kr. Sharma (executive director, Rashtriya Gramin Vikas Nidhi), who was amongst the pioneer faculty and unofficial mentor of the batch. Dr Sharma recollected the batch, especially positive traits of Banasree, with fond memories, and asked all to celebrate life by being in connection. Prof Chandana Goswami (dean, School of Business, Royal Global University), formerly with TU MBA appreciated the alumni batch for the welcoming gesture and hoped for future expansion of the fund.
In the second section of the programme, four alumni physically present at the event, and a few over Google Meet, interacted with current students to initiate the mentor-mentee bond between alumni and the students.
