SIVASAGAR, Sept 30: On his 100th birthday, a retired medical officer, social worker, and freedom fighter who was deprived of Government recognition, Dr Bimala Prasad Borthakur was felicitated by the Brihattar Sivasagar Press Club on Thursday in his Brahmanpatty residence.
The club members including the president Manoj Kr Borthakur, executive president Anil Gupta, secretary Kumar Abhijit Duwora and others presented him a gamossa and a citation. Borthakur narrated his experience as a student leader in 1943 while taking part in the freedom struggle and was lodged in jail for a fortnight and was released as he was a juvenile at that time.
