MARGHERITA, Oct 8: Rajesh Sharma, North East in-charge of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), on Friday visited Margherita Civil Hospital. He was stunned to see that in the name of treatment, patients are suffering due to foul smell coming from dirty bathrooms and broken beds.
Rajesh Sharma said, “The condition of Margherita Civil Hospital is dreadful. Patients from far flung areas of Margherita sub division under Tinsukia district come regularly for treatment here.”
Every wall of the hospital is covered with betel nut spit, bathrooms and latrines were not cleaned since forever, patients are sleeping on broken beds, unhygienic foods served to the patients and above all stray dogs and cows inside Margherita Civil Hospital indicates that treatment are provided to the patients for namesake only.
“Aam Aadmi Party is emphasising on Government hospital, Mohalla Clinic has been made at Delhi for the same purpose,” said Rajesh Sharma.
A woman patient from Ledo said, “The hospital charges Rs 400 for sonography but in the signboard, it is clearly mentioned that not a single rupee can be charged from the delivery patient. More than hundred pregnant women come to Margherita Civil Hospital for check-ups regularly.”
Rajesh Sharma demanded Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sharma to take strict action against Margherita Civil Hospital’s deputy superintendent Dr Kumud Chandra Das and to appoint a punctual and sincere deputy superintendent at Margherita civil hospital.
