DIPHU: A youth from Nagaland was suspected to be drowned in Langvoku River while taking a selfie at the Langvoku waterfalls in Karbi Anglong.
Six youths from Nagaland came to Langvoku, Karbi Anglong on Saturday evening. They went to the upper reaches of the waterfall to take pictures but he slipped on a stone and fell. His friends only realised that one of them was missing after they finished taking pictures.
The missing youth has been identified as Suresh Chakma (23) and an SDRF team was called from Hojai to search for him. However, the search for the missing youth has been hampered due to the rocky riverbed and strong rapids due to the incessant rain for the last three days and hilly terrain.
The SDRF team also could not dive into the river as it is of low depth. Till the evening of Sunday, the youth remained untraceable. Officials said that more equipment suitable for the terrain will be brought from Hojai on Monday to continue the search.
One of the friends of the youth while speaking to the media said that the group went to the place to take pictures and while they were taking out their phones he went missing.
