DIBRUGARH, Oct 14: Three youths from different parts of Dibrugarh district who were on their way to join the United Liberation Front of Asom – Independent (Ulfa-I), were apprehended by the Assam Rifles at Jagun in Tinsukia district on Thursday evening.
As per information, the three youths were travelling in a bus from upper Assam’s Sivasagar town and on their way to Jairampur in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district with the aim of joining the banned outfit when they were intercepted by the Assam Rifles team.
Two of the youths were dressed in fatigue which raised the suspicion of the Assam Rifles team patrolling in the area. On questioning the youths revealed their intention of joining the Ulfa (Independent).
They were supposed to be picked up by their handler at Jairampur from where they intended to cross over to Myanmar to join the Ulfa (Independent) camp.
The three youths were identified as Takayadhan Bowri, Bijay Bowri and Gunadhar Rajawar and all of them belong to the tea garden community.
They were handed over to the Lekhapani police station and were being grilled by the cops.
