JORHAT, Oct 15: Additional agriculture secretary, Tej Prasad Bhusal on Friday visited a progressive farmer, Biswajit Bora who cultivates dragon fruit in the Bahona area, an agriculture department official informed.
The official stated that during the visit, the farmer was preparing to sell about one quintal of dragon fruit in the market. Bhusal told the farmer that the agriculture department would extend all necessary support to Bora’s farm for further development.
The official further said that Bora had also taken up plantation of medicinal plants on his farm, besides rearing a buffalo from Uttar Pradesh that had suited well with the climatic conditions of Assam.
Officials of the agriculture department of Jorhat along with district agriculture officer, Dr Nitumoni Gogoi accompanied the secretary.
