MP Pallab Lochan Das inaugurates Smriti Soudh at Natasurjya Phani Sarma Samadhisthal

TEZPUR, Oct 26: Member of Parliament, Tezpur HPC, Pallab Lochan Das inaugurated ‘Smriti Soudh’ at Natasurya Phani Sarma Samadhi Sthal at Kalibari, Tezpur on Wednesday. The inauguration programme was held on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the dramatist and filmmaker Phani Sarma.
Tezpur MLA Prithiraj Rabha, DC Deba Kumar Mishra; chairperson, Sonitpur Zilla Parishad, Dolly Surin; chairperson, TMB, Prajnanoo Bhattacharyya and other senior officials of Sonitpur district administration were present on the occasion.
The project is being implemented by Tezpur Municipal Board at a cost of Rs 22 lakh under 14th Finance Commission and has been designed and executed by sculptor Hari Narayan Das of Parbatia, Tezpur.
Deba Kumar Mishra delivered the welcome address citing the finishing touches on the ‘Smriti Soudh’ will be completed within a short period of time and spoke on the overall project that has been taken up to develop the Samadhi Sthal.
Renowned dramatist and recipient of Natasurya Phani Sarma Award – Aishwarya Kakati was present on the occasion as keynote speaker and spoke on the need to preserve the legacy of the artiste.
Speaking on the occasion, MP Pallab Lochan Das said a long-cherished dream of the people of Tezpur is finally taking shape and asked the officials to complete the project as soon as possible.
Family members of Phani Sarma, officials and staff of various government departments and several renowned artistes and public of Tezpur were present in the programme.
