GUWAHATI, Oct 28: As a part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and ‘The National Unity Day’, Fit Indian Freedom Run was organised at LGBI Airport. The purpose of the event was to foster the spirit of fitness among the key stakeholders of the airport.
The programme started with a felicitation ceremony. The run was overwhelmingly participated by employees of CISF and GIAL who were 100+ in number. The run started from LGBI Airport to SOS village Kakhikuchi and back to LGBI Airport.
Chief airport officer, Utpal Baruah graced the occasion as the honourable chief guest at the programme along with other GIAL officials.
Baruah gave the inaugural address to commence the unique event.
Anima Sonowal, the international athlete champion was the special invitee of the campaign. In her introductory speech, she highlighted her entire journey, the hidden sacrifice and pain she made to achieve her goal.
She also highlighted the importance of health and fitness.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by deputy commandant of CISF, Tapan Poddar.
